Jesters and Fools In Medieval Ireland, Jesters were hired by Kings and wealthy noblemen as entertainment at parties and festivals. Jesters danced, sang, told stories, performed acrobatic moves, and sometimes performed magic tricks. Entertainers in Ireland included: Druths, Fuirseoires, Creccaires, and Braigetoirs. |
Holidays and Festivals The monotony of everyday life for many Irish people was removed during holidays and festivals throughout the year. In Medieval times, it is recorded that people did not work approximately eight weeks out of the year. It was during these times that people celebrated Christmas, Easter, May Day, and the end of the harvest and ploughing of the fields. |
